the powerMELA E-machines are permanent magnet-based synchronous electric machines which, with their integrated inverter, form a very compact design, which facilitates easier installation. They were developed specifically for mobile work machines for use as both primary power source and as secondary for various auxiliary systems. As an option, they can be combined with a power transmission and are designed for high, continuous power outputs, both as motor and generator.
Thanks to the integrated inverter, only one DC connection to the powerMELA E-machines is needed. Complicated cable routing is eliminated, thus saving space and weight while achieving unmatched power density. In order to deliver constant high power, thermal losses must be absorbed directly when and there they occur. Even with an extremely high efficiency of 97%, heat corresponding to several kilowatts is in fact also generated in an electric machine. This is handled by direct oil cooling of the relevant components inside the powerMELA E.
As a result of the necessary high electrical power output, either power or voltage or both need to be adjusted. powerMELA works with a working voltage of up to 800 volts, which provides advantages with a smaller cross-sectional area in cabling that facilitates installation in the mobile machine. There is also a special insulation protection so that the working voltage is safely managed, and that interference is suppressed. This ensures a reliable and error-free operation.

POWERMELA C SERIES
The powerMELA C series is a family of permanent magnet based, synchronous electric machines with an integrated inverter. They were developed specifically for mobile work machines for use as both a primary power source and as a secondary for various auxiliary systems. The electric machines are liquid-cooled and designed for four-quadrant use. The desired torque, voltage and speed values can be set over the CAN bus. The very same unit can be used as either motor or generator.
A 650V, 148A DC electric motor/generator with 80 kW nominal power and 250 Nm torque. Integrated inverter, oil cooling and protection class IP6k9k. Nominal speed of 3000 rpm and maximum speed of 6000 rpm. Weight 90 kg.
A 650V, 148A DC electric motor/generator with 140 kW nominal power and 450 Nm torque. Integrated inverter, oil cooling and protection class IP6k9k. Nominal speed of 3000 rpm and maximum speed of 6000 rpm. Weight 140 kg.
A 650V, 216A DC generator with 130 kW nominal power and 610 Nm torque. Designed for mounting directly on the flywheel of an internal combustion engine, oil cooling and protection class IP54 or IP65. Rated speed of 2100 rpm and maximum speed of 2800 rpm. Weight 160 kg.
